There would be no sneaking up on this handsome fellow as he perched on a mullein plant on the plains. The colorful falcon knew full well I was there and, thankfully, didn’t really mind and gave me some cool poses.

While this is a male, kestrels remind me of a quote from William Shakespeare’s play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “Though she be but little, she is fierce.” Indeed, while they are the smallest of raptors, they are every bit as aggressive and fierce as their bigger cousins.
