Earlier this week I had to go to Cheyenne, Wyoming for work and as always, I was on the lookout for critters. On the way back, I happened across this handsome fellow and a half dozen does lazily grazing just outside of the city.
Pronghorns are notoriously curious but also quite skittish, rarely hanging around for pics. This group was relatively okay with my presence, as long as I moved slow. I was photographing them while crouching but when I stood up to leave, I got a nice view of their butts as they quickly departed.
Fun fact… Pronghorn are the fastest mammal in North America, capable of reaching 60mph! Why did they evolve to be so fast? It is theorized it developed its speed to be able to escape the long extinct American cheetah.
