Arriving at the owl nest Tuesday evening, mama was perched in front of it, out in the open allowing for some cool pics far different from what I normally get of them. One thing it allowed me to do, is focus on some of the finer points and with today’s high-resolution cameras, a heavy crop still returns usable pictures like this. Here, you get a good look at those inane, intimidating talons that make these guys so efficient at dispatching their prey. Wow!
