While Colorado’s mountains get most of the press, the eastern half of the state is part of the Great Plains. Standing near where the two meet you can get a true appreciation not only for those monstrous peaks but also for the rolling hills below.

This image was taken near Denver International Airport and shows a now non-functioning pumpjack with a snow-covered Longs Peak in the background. Demonstrating just how dominating the 14,259′ peak is on the horizon is the fact that I was standing about 50 miles from the mountain!
