A fun visit from an icy, green interstellar visitor. Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) was discovered earlier this year and skywatchers have been closely monitoring it. It is now at its closest point to Earth, some 56 million miles away.
It has not gotten all that bright, really only visible with binoculars or a camera. Nevertheless, it is fun to see and photograph, especially since I don’t expect to be around when it returns in 1,350 years.
Taken last night at a high point on a hill not too far from where I live in Thornton, Colorado.
