The aurora borealis shines over north Denver

Well, this happened last night – as you no doubt have seen in your feed or, hopefully, were able to witness in person.

An incredibly strong solar storm struck the Earth last night, allowing for an amazing light show to be seen across much of North America. As these things are very fickle and don’t always pan out and with concerns of smoke and clouds, I only ventured to a nearby park that I thought might work well.

Arriving about a half hour after sunset, my camera was initially just barely seeing the lights. Then, 15 minutes later, they began to pick up and by the time this was taken, it was an amazing show. I didn’t realize I was getting the greens until I processed the pics. Just amazing and I am tickled as heck to have been able to capture it.

Taken at Adams County Government, CO Riverdale Regional Park & Fairgrounds while standing at the veterans memorial. For the capture, I used my trusty Canon EOS R5 set at ISO 800, 6 seconds, f/2.8.
