After seeing Rita’s sister, Mama Mimi in Jackson, Wyoming last month, my wife became fascinated by these wooden trolls created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. So, when we were staying at Mueller State Park and she found out Rita was nearby, it was mandated that we go pay her a visit.

Located in an area with many historical mines, and a massive, currently running gold mine, Rita is a pretty easy walk. The sign to her explains, “100 Suns – that is how long a nap is for a troll. When Rita woke, her mountainside had grown a hole! The humans must have dug them in search of shiny rocks. Someone could fall in, so Rita went to tidy up.”
