Unnamed Alaskan mountain provides a nice view from camp

For some reason, lately my mind has been wandering back to 2019 and our two week RV excursion there. It was an absolute amazing time with sights, sounds and creatures that I pray I will someday be able to see again.

During our time near Seward, we camped north of town between there and Exit Glacier. Out the back of our campsite, this was the view that greeted us. After the trip I shared a more fog-shrouded image of the mountain in black and white but in looking back, I came across this gem.

Early morning I would walk to the edge of the Resurrection River and just sit, coffee cup in hand, taking in the view and the sounds of the river’s waters. Sigh. The green of the foliage and the blue above were so brilliant. Throw in some snow and, if you look close, waterfalls, and it was pretty darned awesome.

Dramatic rock formations of Alaska’s Aialik Cape

A throwback to one year ago today and, my goodness, looking at the pics just floods my mind with memories of what was an amazing trip to Alaska.

This is an image I haven’t shared previously, taken during a boating excursion into Kenai Fjords National Park. The scenery was nothing short of stunning from the battered rock formations to snow-covered mountains and glaciers. Just beautiful.

My wife and I spent the entire day outside, on the bow, just soaking it all in. Other than a few, brief periods of rain showers, we were pretty fortunate to enjoy nice weather and see everything you could hope for. Someone in the campground we were staying at had done the same excursion the day before and rain and clouds prevented them from seeing anything.

Streaking rays of sun on Kachemek Bay

Taken on our last morning in Homer, Alaska on August 1st.

It was a chilly morning, the coldest one we had seen since we got to the 49th state. #Sunrise lacked any sort of color but it did provide a very cool scene right out in front of our campsite.

I loved the streaking rays of sun and the layered look of the mountains across the bay.

Video: Top Shots 2019 – Alaska

By far my ‘photo excursion of the year’. We headed north to our nation’s 49th state and spent two weeks exploring this amazing place.

The sheer size of Alaska and our desire to not rush through things meant we limited our travels but that didn’t limit the photographic opportunities. We focused on three main areas: Denali National Park, Seward with Kenai Fjords National Park and Homer with Katmai National Park and Preserve.

Through them all, the scenery was stunning, the wildlife just amazing. It was the trip of a lifetime and one I will treasure forever. Here is a look at my favorite pics from our trip to the northern frontier.
