I am back from a fantastic week in Yellowstone and the Tetons, taking in the amazing scenery and seeing some cool critters. I struggled a bit with the animals overall although the grizzlies were pretty cooperative.
This here is probably the most famous grizzly in Yellowstone, Raspberry. She is 17 years old and the matriarch of a significant lineage of offspring, including one cub-of-the-year this year. On a rainy, dreary morning we spotted her crashed out on a log on the side of a hill, getting some much-needed rest. While her cub isn’t visible, it was sleeping behind her on the ground.
I got some better pictures of her and her little one but will start off by sharing this one as I thought it was kind of a fun shot, even if the quality isn’t the best. Oh, and check out that claw! :-O
