Welcome back to the Argentinians! I was able to spot my first Swainson’s hawks of the season this past weekend. These guys are really cool raptors. Very large and they have the amazing, quintessential hawk screech that really gets your attention.
Having just flown 6,000 miles, this one was not too inclined to do any more flying and willingly gave me some nice poses in the morning sun. That look let me know that it was well-aware that I was there. Notice though that it had one leg tucked up, a sign that a raptor is not threatened and not preparing to flee.
