Baby kingbirds hang out by the roadside

I forgot about this encounter back in July. Western kingbirds had a nest in this area and driving by one morning, I spotted their little ones hanging out outside the family home. They were quite content and one of the adults was hanging out nearby keeping watch on them. Truly cute as heck!

Western kingbirds are fun visitors to the Colorado plains in the summer. They are most notable for being bullies, fearless in protecting their territory, I have seen them attack hawks and eagles.
