A good day for the bald eagle, not so much for the fish. 😀

Harkening back to the end of December when I witnessed this action. Not sure why I haven’t shared these images before but am making up for it now. Numerous bald eagles had gathered at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and were having a great time fishing. This one approached from far off, focused on its quarry. It quickly descended, extended its deadly talons and with a splash, caught its breakfast.

No matter how many times I see it, I am amazed at the ability of bald eagles to snag their prey.

Bald eagle makes the catch!
