Quite the looker she was and those skies were pretty much perfect. New Year’s Day I spent some time with this eagle and was able to get some pretty awesome pics of her.
You may notice the band on her left leg. With some help from a friend and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, we deciphered the numbers off of it. Records indicate she was banded as a nestling near Greeley in Weld County, Colorado on May 16, 2004.
Kind of fun to learn that she is almost nineteen years old and that she is a local. In the wild, bald eagles can live to 20 to 30 years old so she has been around quite a while, relatively speaking. Have a fantastic Freedom Friday.
