My ‘white whale’ – finally! I certainly felt like Captain Ahab in my quest to photograph a wild cat over the years. Only once previously have I had the chance and that was in cruddy conditions and they were on a driveway. Yesterday, I finally had another opportunity.
I’ve spent many hours in recent weeks staking out this spot with nothing to show for it. Yesterday I decided I would give it a half hour before moving on and, thankfully, they appeared just before the time limit. While they stayed well-hidden most of the time with only brief views, at one point this one came out and sat briefly. It looked absolutely gorgeous in that early morning light and those eyes were piercing.
So, now that I have a bobcat, is it too much to ask for a mountain lion?
