This big boy had a rather novel method to reach the leaves. Rather than going to them, he brought the leaves to him.
He was within a small stand of aspens and many of the leaves required him to crane his neck to reach them. That was clearly too much work so instead he would grab the smaller aspens, bend them down and break them, bringing their bounty of leaves to an easy reach.
I don’t know that I have ever seen one do this and it was fun. I was also surprised about how loud it was when the trees would snap. Of course being in the high country at sunrise where there were no ambient sounds, the crack really was striking.
