Fabulous ferruginous hawk takes flight

Pop! That is exactly what this gorgeous raptor does against that beautiful blue Colorado sky. This time of year you see these guys a lot on the plains, in many areas they grow to outnumber the more common red tailed hawk. I find the ferruginous hawks just gorgeous, particularly when in flight and you get a look at that white plumage. And, of course, there is that bright yellow gape that they are known for (I call it a joker smile).
