Finally some fresh ones for Fox Friday! As I wrapped up my activities at one photo destination and prepared to head to another, I turned the corner to spot a beautiful red fox hanging out near a drainage pipe.

That, of course, required me to take a look. I pulled over and soon was greeted with not just one fox, but also its mate and a couple of fleeting glimpses of two very young kits. At one point, one of the adults lied down to take a rest and one of the little ones came out for some nose-to-nose nuzzling with its parent. So darned cute!

That was the first and will probably be the last time I photograph this particular den. It is in a very public location and, sadly, the aggressive actions of some other folks created a very uncomfortable situation, stressing out the animals. I want no part of that and will instead just be glad I got the few moments I did with them.

I’ll continue to be on the lookout for other dens to photograph in the coming weeks. Please do drop me a note if you happen to know of any in the northern Colorado area. Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!
