Those eyes! One of the many reasons I absolutely love male northern harriers. These hawks are just crazy beautiful and the yellow, piercing peepers are amazing.

Sunday I was lucky enough to get my first encounter of the season with one and it was a good one for sure. I was following a friend when I saw him hit the brakes and then I realized what he spotted.

Quickly, I slammed on my brakes as well, making a hard turn to intercept the raptor as it hunted across a field. Almost perfectly it flew right at me, giving me a great series of shots including this one for #WingsWednesday.
