Yesterday I finally had a chance to check up on favorite great horned owl pair. She was not to be found but I have to believe she is hunkered down in the tree cavity they call home. Typically, I don’t see her at this point for another month until the little ones hatch.
He, however, hangs around more visible, keeping watch on the nest and bringing food to his bride as needed. Here, you can get a feel for just how hard it is to spot these guys. He was up in a very tall tree with his plumage blending in very well with the surroundings.
