Umm. Yeah. Wow! This happened on Sunday. A friend and I were checking out a local open space known for a few different critters, including owls. Initially we walked right under the tree this owl was in, not realizing we were being watched but then my friend looked back and spotted it.
The owl was kind enough to give us a ton of fantastic poses among the golden foliage and then decided it was ready to move on. Thankfully, I was able to capture the action as it departed, this being my favorite in the sequence.
Everything seems to work for this capture. The fall colors, the owl’s launch and its focused look with a good look at those deadly talons. This will probably go in the books as one of my favorite great horned owl pics I have ever taken. Taken with my Canon EOS R5 Mark II.
