I don’t know what this three-year-old did to the older eagle but there was clearly some sort of conflict going on. There was a group of six eagles hanging out at a local pond, all getting along famously – except these two.
Three times the younger one tried to join the group, three times the adult set off in pursuit, eventually forcing junior to give up and find some other friends to hang out with.
Bald eagle season here on the Colorado Front Range is starting to heat up. I am seeing more and more gatherings as the eagles congregate around food sources. As things slowly begin to thaw out and bodies of water thaw out, the opportunities to spend time with these majestic creatures should increase.
