Hot pursuit! Bald eagles are known for their fishing prowess, but they also are not above stealing a meal. When one catches a meal, others in the area oftentimes set out in pursuit, spending more energy on trying to take another’s catch than they would if they just caught their own. This juvenile bald eagle is learning that lesson. It skillfully plucked a large fish from the lake, but it would have to put on a Top Gun worthy show to keep it. A two-year-old eagle tried its best to steal from its younger competitor, chasing it to the trees but in the end, was not successful. The lighting was kind of weird with sunrise lighting up the lake and opposite shore while they were in the shade of trees but it was a fun sequence to capture.
