Freedom Friday features a series of images showing a male Bald Eagle not willing to let his mate get too far away.

This past Sunday the pair was perched on an Osprey nest stand at St Vrain State Park, Colorado.  My son and I set ourselves up to observe and the two posed for dozens of pictures.

Deciding the photo session was over, the female headed off to a different roost not far away.  The male apparently did not want to be separated for long and soon followed his mate.  This sequence captures the pair then the male as he takes flight.

I really like the first image because it shows the notable size difference between the female (left) and the male (right).  Female Bald Eagles are quite a bit bigger than males and you can see it clearly here.  This same size difference holds true for many raptors.

Have a great weekend!
