Moody skies on the Colorado Front Range

A little bit of everything in this image taken early yesterday morning.

In the foreground, the Great Plains with roaming bison, the icon of the Old West. In the distance to the left, the Flatirons, that indomitable rock formation you see when you look toward Boulder. Beyond that, the cloud-shrouded Rocky Mountains with Mount Meeker and Longs Peak on the far right.

We actually had a few flakes of snow in the pre-dawn hours but nothing that amounted to anything and within an hour or two after this image was taken, those beautiful, Colorado blue skies emerged. I can never get enough of scenes like this.
