A bit of a Top Gun tie-in to this image. My friend and I were photographing a pair of eagles perched in a roadside tree. They looked absolutely fantastic and the sky behind was everything we could have hoped for.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a third eagle flies in fast from behind, displacing one eagle from its perch and upsetting the one on the highest perch. The displaced eagle and the new arrival then played a game of chase with one eventually giving up and the remaining eagle leaving to join the other. It was an amazing bit of action.
Thankfully, the eagle at the top of the “tower” didn’t have any coffee to spill on itself with Maverick’s flyby.
