A guy with a camera was not going to deter this little one from its late summer chores of stocking up for winter. ?

Trying to get pictures of these diminutive creatures on the move is hard as heck and I rarely succeed. On this recent morning, I was watching this one as it ran between its home and a patch of greenery, each time bringing back a mouthful. Here, I got lucky to catch it as it leapt up, coming right at me.

Pika do not hibernate so they spend most of their time in the warmer months stockpiling food for the long winters at high-altitude.
