I haven’t done too well in recent months getting pics of these speed demons so this one harkens back to February of 2021 for #ThrowbackThursday.
My primary objective on that day was for bald eagles (of course!) but that didn’t pan out so I began hitting up the backroads in northeastern Colorado. I was lucky to come across a very nice sized herd of pronghorn and while they didn’t linger, they did provide some nice photo ops.
Pronghorn (often incorrectly called antelope) are the fastest land animal in the Western Hemisphere and second in the world only to the Cheetah. They can sprint at speeds up to 60mph and run for extraordinarily long distances at slower speeds. Many folks here jokingly call them ‘speed goats.’
