Regal bald eagle pair hangs out in the Colorado Front Range foothills

On my photo drive this past weekend, this pair was just chilling in a tree that overhung the road. They were quite content, just watching the cars go underneath and keeping watch on the skies.

After I snapped some images, it was pretty clear they were in no rush to depart. In fact, when I returned an hour later, they were still hanging out in the same spot.

I love getting to photograph a pair together as it offers a great demonstration of the size differences between male and female bald eagles. As you can tell, the front eagle is much larger thus making it easily identified as the female. Female bald eagles can be as much as 20% larger than males.
