Return of the Canadian invaders

Canada Geese migrate to Colorado during the winter in large numbers. This past week I visited an open space and found what had to be several hundred of them on a pond.

They are beautiful birds for sure but their sheer numbers can be overwhelming and they aren’t always welcome. The geese adapt quite well to urban and suburban areas, enjoying manicured landscapes just as much as farmer’s fields.

With as many of them as there are, this creates some big messes (lots of poop!) and can put a damper on enjoying parks with everything the birds leave behind.
