Jumping back a couple of weeks ago to an early morning photo session with this raptor. It was perched on a fence and then decided it was going to try to pounce on something on the ground (it failed). As it took off, I managed a nice sequence of images with it lit up beautifully by the golden light of sunrise. Soon the Swainson’s hawks will begin their migration back to Argentina where they will spend the winter. I kind of wish I could go with them!
