An American pika seems a bit surprised to find a 6′ 1″ photographer lurking outside its front door. Snow has fallen a few times recently in the areas where these diminutive creatures call home. Before long, it will be coated in white and remain that way for months. Pika don’t hibernate, instead, they remain awake and active through the winter, moving through tunnels and cavities under the snow and rocks where they live.
