Quite a close flyby with this beautiful lady this past weekend. I was visiting her family’s nest and things were awfully quiet with neither her, her mate nor her eaglet doing much of anything. At one point she flew off and disappeared for a while, I presume to grab something to eat.

Myself and another photographer positioned ourselves along her most likely return path and sure enough, after more than a half hour, here she returned flying fast and low. I quickly trained my camera on her and started taking pictures in rapid succession.

This was one of the last images of the sequence just before she flew only about 20 feet over our heads. It was an absolute thrill! It is hard to show the power, majesty and sheer size of these creatures in a photo. They are absolutely impressive and she was just beautiful beyond belief.
