Almost five years ago, this area of Medicine Bow National Forest was hit with a massive wildfire. The Mullen Fire would scorch 176,878 acres and took nearly four months to be contained.

In its wake, the forest was devastated but now, it is growing back with saplings and wildflowers. There is enough greenery to sustain the wildlife, as seen by this young buck that visited our campsite one evening this past week. He was quite curious about the guy with the camera and gave me some nice poses.
