Sea hawk cheering on the Seahawks

Super Bowl Sunday is here pitting the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks. I don’t know that I could ever bring myself to cheer for the Patriots so the Seahawks will be my team today.

To honor them, we bring you the real sea hawk, the osprey. This image is from back in June, of one that raised quite a ruckus.

While it is unknown what bird the Seahawks logo actually is supposed to mimic, this raptor is the most logical choice. The osprey is only true ‘sea hawk’ and would be a fine mascot.

An interesting note… The Seahawks use an augur hawk as their mascot, a bird only found in Africa. The trainer wanted to use an osprey but the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service prohibited him from using a native bird for commercial purposes.
