Well this was an unusual looking fellow! At this point in the season, most of the bucks are just starting to re-grow their antlers and are sporting nubs. This guy though has a deformed antler on one side and minimal growth on the other. The big one has velvet on it indicating that maybe it is new this year? I don’t know.

When deer sport non-typical antlers, it is usually due to damage that was sustained to the pedicle, or base of the antler, early in age or soon after shedding.
