Pilot’s glory on the way to Denali

Well, here is something you don’t usually see – if ever. Also called a “glory of the pilot” or “pilot’s halo,” it is an optical phenomenon where a halo encircles a plane’s shadow. It is caused by tiny droplets of water in the air backscattering the sunlight. Taken on our flightseeing tour to Denali, they aren’t all that uncommon, but this was my first time photographing one. Pretty darned cool!
