Burst of gold among the green

A fantastic fall-colored clump of trees yesterday in the Colorado high country. I didn’t get to take my usual route for fall colors this year due to time constraints. However, yesterday my son and I took our side-by-side up to Rollins Pass for some fun in the dirt – and some fall foliage.

That area is somewhat limited in terms of deciduous trees but there was certainly enough to require multiple stops for photos. We almost would have missed this cool scene except we stopped to take a picture of the valley below. When we got out, looking down the side of the mountain, we saw this gorgeous clump of yellow, standing alone among the pine trees.

It was definitely fortunate that was the spot we chose to stop or we would have missed it.
