Well, what can you say? Simply the highest peak in North America at a jaw-dropping 20,310 feet high.
Getting to see it is hit or miss as clouds, more often than not, prevent viewing. On our way into the area, it was indeed hidden but, we had a flight tour the next day to get close up views of it from the air and while it was cloudy below, from above the cover, the view was stunning.
The mountain’s name has flip-flopped in recent years. Currently it is officially called Mount McKinley, the name it had from 1896 to 2015. For a time, it was changed to the name given it by the indigenous Athabascan people, Denali, meaning “the great one.” In 2025 it was changed back to McKinley. I prefer its original, native name. It just seems more fitting.
