The holidays on hallowed ground

The wreaths were laid with care and love at Fort Logan National Cemetery this past weekend. I visit there a few times a year to honor my dad but the visit at Christmastime is always a bit more special, even if sadder than the others.

Seeing the rows of marble headstones with the green wreaths and red ribbons really is a pretty and poignant scene. Of course, every one of those represents a special man or woman who stood up proudly for this great nation and served honorably in its armed forces. Without them, our nation would be far different and indeed, may not exist.

Please take the time this holiday season to remember those interred on this hallowed ground and the loved ones still here who will have an empty space in their heart.

A special thank you to Wreaths Across America for their efforts to ensure our heroes are honored during the holidays.
