Airliner does a flyby of the waning gibbous moon

Standing around, waiting for my photo subject to do something interesting on Saturday, I began to get bored and look for other things to photograph. Our only natural satellite provided a fine opportunity, more so when this jet flew just beneath it.

As I looked at it, I couldn’t help but lament how it is such a shame it has been 50+ years since humans last set foot on the moon. Now, we are trying to return with NASA’s Artemis, but 20 years of setbacks, shifting political priorities, lack of will, failure of imagination all seem to be holding us back and delaying a return.
