A snowy-faced American kestrel

With our latest winter storm on Saturday, light snow was falling, and temperatures were in the teens. The weather made it less than pleasant for man and beast and at least some of my feathered friends opted to just sit and wait it out. This beautiful female kestrel had no interest in taking flight, allowing me to get some great shots as she perched with light snow landing on her. I was able to capture some great detail with her portrait showing off her feathers and, of course, the snowflakes on her head and face.
