Technically this male Kestrel was coming in for a landing but it does look like he is tightrope walking. I came across this gorgeous little falcon the other day and I was able to get some nice captures of it.
Kestrels are usually pretty skittish but this one seemed to be enjoying all the attention and didn’t try too hard to hide from me.
These birds are the smallest falcon in North America averaging about 8 inches long. Don’t let their size fool you though. They are as much of an effective predator and just as vicious as any raptor. Taken in Adams County, Colorado.
