American pika stops to smell the Colorado columbine

This little cutie took the time yesterday to investigate Colorado’s state flower. It didn’t take a bite so perhaps they aren’t very tasty.

My photo excursion did not go quite as planned with none of the big critters that I was hoping to photograph showing themselves. Trying to make lemonade out of lemons, I started photographing the tiniest of creatures in the rarified air of the high country. They provided a nice consolation prize with this one being my favorite.
