Bald eagles are quite vocal, particularly when in groups or with their mates. We will never know what their sounds mean but the other eagles sure do.
When observing my favorite pair recently, mama decided it was time for a break from the babysitting. She let loose with a few loud calls and within a minute, here came dad at Mach 1 from his favorite perch across the river.
As he circled, preparing to attend to his bride and young ones, he returned her call, making for a nice shot as he began to bank toward the nest. He looked quite dramatic and when coupled with that beautiful early morning light, it is a pretty cool capture.
