A very fun capture for Freedom Friday.

Taken back in February, this handsome eagle approached from behind the tree, popped up, extended its legs, and spread its wings as it prepared to land.

I really like this shot as it shows the ‘business end’ of the eagle with those dangerous talons and also showcases that impressive six plus foot wingspan they have. The soft, blue skies behind help to make it really pop too.

As nice of a job as this picture does illustrating it, I don’t think you can truly appreciate the size and power of a bald eagle until you have witnessed it personally. They truly are impressive.

It won’t be long and the seasonal bald eagles will be returning to Colorado for the winter and I anxiously await their arrival!
