All was quiet around this Colorado nest this spring as this female and its mate hatched a beautiful young one that is just about to fledge. With the warming temperatures of summer, new neighbors moved in and they are constantly pestering the longtime residents.

Here, a Grackle pursues Mom as she returns to the nest after having flown too close to the little bird’s territory. Even near the eagle nest, Western Kingbirds have moved in and have been quite persistently pestering the big raptors.

Interestingly enough, the adult eagles sit there quite stoically, largely ignoring their tormentors. The juvenile though gets quite upset when the Kingbirds pester it.
