Taken this past Tuesday at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Denver, Colorado, this gal was hanging out separate from the rest of the herd. Perhaps just needed some alone time? 😉

How can you tell a female from a male bison? Aside from the obvious, both have horns but the females are more curved. Additionally, females are typically wider at the hips than the shoulder.
