A fun couple of birds that I don’t normally see. This pair was a good ways away but, thankfully, close enough to get some okay pictures as they hung out in the reeds around a pond. They have very pretty plumage and those red eyes are way cool.

Black-crowned night herons can be found across a lot of the contiguous United States depending on the time of year. Here in Colorado, they come for the summer then migrate south for winter.
