The annual rut is ramping up in the high country as seen in this image for #WapitiWednesday.
This past weekend we visited Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park with these magnificent creatures being the highlight. I struggled a bit of find much action at all Saturday but Sunday did much better.
As it turned out, the action was right in town and this massive fellow was the king of Estes Park. He had gathered a large harem at a park and was busy keeping them all together. Here, when a couple of cows strayed, he was quick to round them up, bringing them back into the fold with the others.
