Taken a month ago in Rocky Mountain National Park and a good one for #WapitiWednesday.
It was a chilly, rainy morning at lower elevations of the valley while up higher, as you can see, snow had fallen and coated the trees. The elk relish these conditions, even if I was not a fan at the time while standing in the rain. 😉
This big boy was working his way down to challenge another bull that had a nice harem gathered, making sure that his arrival on the scene was announced. In the end, he decided not to directly confront the leader, instead just bugling and hoping that would be enough to lure some cows away (it wasn’t).
